Sail Chat 3rd August

Whilst being overcast with cloud the wind was warm, steady, about 14 mph and from the southwest. It blew straight down the river and provided almost perfect sailing for those fortunate to be out. Race Team of John Hollands and myself as ADO a windward leeward was set. In the morning handicap, Comets there was David, James Bay, Peter OTI with Claude, and Alex. Elise was sailing her RS Aero. The Hon Sailing Secretary soon took the lead and was never caught. No capsizes-well done Elise.

Few extras in the afternoon, George and Chris, David, Alex and James in Comets but Peter could not resist the cricket. George and Chris had an excellent start and were never caught. David retired half way through due to his efforts in the morning.

Just one lone GP with Trevor and Susan and one Enterprise with the Commodore crewed by Susie. The Merlins had two out Stuart with Nicola and Andrew/Claude, the last four boats had a long run down to J. Nice spinnaker run by Stu and Nicola.

Time keeping was performed by Mary and Maureen, the Bar was Philip and the very sophisticated cakes were by Ellie and the Vice made many sorts of sandwiches on different breads - there is class! Two cake award yet again, the bar is high!

The sleek but small Mink made an appearance although given the amount of sweeping we had to do, it is rather idle.

See you next week. Phill
