Sail Chat 13th April

Lovely sunny morning with a sparkling south westerly. As the sun came out the breeze dropped and as the clouds passed over so we sped up. Only three takers, ever green James, Tim both in Comets and me with Lucy York, who had not sailed for 5 years due to two small people. It was a lovely sail and it was Buvet conditions. Peter OTI briefly came out with Elvin but it blustered at the wrong time.

In the afternoon series others joined in but the weather rather revolted, with black clouds rolling in, from the south west came first some gusty bits and then some rain, followed by a rather patchy breeze that had backed a smidge and eventually was smothered.

Only one Ent out which retired after starting, wishing to remember the ideal AM. Also not being keen on chilly rain. Good show from the Comets again with James with Elise, Tim, George and Philip first with the two eager Elvin and Charlie, who like me evacuated when the rain and wind briefly kicked in. Just one GP out John Hollands with Sue. In the Merlins, came out Stu with Nicola, Andrew with Ellie and OMR John with daughter Livvy.

Excellent job by Ian who more or less covered everything due to Rogers illness. Trevor kindly stepped in as ADO for afternoon racing and a bit of bar as well. Excellent cover of Time Keeping by Angela and Fiona and Alison Philips. Angela also assisted with catering with Gina who produced the most extraordinary and licky cakes. Ian reminded us of forthcoming events and Delilah set a very youthful example of table clearing.
