What's involved & Opening Times
At Hampton Sailing Club we welcome and have members of all different levels of experience. It's very easy to learn to sail and once learnt you never forget. We can help you get started, we also have an open day and a number of newcomer and improver sessions in our events calendar.
How to Join
You are welcome to call into the Club on any Sunday (March to December) to find out more, meet members, look around and pick up an application form. Our chain ferry to the clubhouse is located at the bottom of Benn's Alley.
If you have any questions, require further information or would like to talk to someone about the Club please leave your contact details by completing the Contact Us Form and we will respond by email or give you a call. As a guide we have several categories of membership:
Full membership: boat owners, helmsmen, crews and others who regularly take part in Club activities, with voting rights.
Associate membership: occasional sailors with no voting rights.
Intermediate membership: for those aged 17 21 with voting rights.
Junior membership: for those aged up to 17 with no voting rights.
Introductory membership: once only basis covering one sailing season with no voting rights.
The club is run by Flag Officers and a Management Committee who are elected annually at the AGM in December. Unlike some clubs, Hampton has always been run entirely by its members. We all enjoy helping to organise racing, provide refreshments (some like baking homemade cakes) and socialising whilst serving at the bar.
We keep costs and subscriptions to a minimum and provide an excellent way to make friends by all helping to maintain the club and island berthing area at Sunday morning working parties. These happen during the closed season, January March, often followed by a pub lunch.
The clubhouse is open from 10.30am every Sunday with racing starting at 12.00. After the clocks go back in October the Frostbite series begins and racing then starts at 11.30.
Throughout the year we run social events often after sailing or as a separate event on a Saturday.
