Sail Chat 2nd August 2026

2165273 1280x

Another lovely sunny Sunday, with a challenging south easterly light wind.

A course of I - E 5 laps was set by duty team of Tim Harms and Alex Cosic assisted by timekeepers Millie Little and Jo Heath. Four boats turned out to sail, Phil in his Enterprise, Dave and Peter in their Comets and Claude in the Pico. Phil led for the first 3 laps then cruelly found an underwater branch, which let the Comets through to come first and second on handicap.
There were no youths available for the lunch youth race.

Due to only a small amount of boats for the afternoon race it was decided just to have the one start. The course stayed the same, but laps increased to 6. The sky clouded over and the wind picked up for the six boats, John and Sue in the GP, Ian and Susie in their Enterprise, Claude in the Pico, and George and Chris, Dave, Peter and John Heath ( John's first ever sail) in Comets.

The Enterprise led the fleet with the GP not far behind, the Comets again had a very close race, changing positions most laps, with George and Chris winning the race.
A delicious tea was served by Dorothy Heath.
