At last after a procession of light winds on our sailing days it came in but still from the south. With just a shade of west it gave a beat, reach up river with about 6 to 8 mph but down river, in the clearer, sections some exciting gusts 10 to 15 mph. The race team of Stuart and Nicola set two marks up and two down and the timing was by Alison Philips and Angela.
Two Enterprises out to continue their duel from the last series Ian and Susie and me with Paul. Again a very close race for all six laps with Phill/Paul leading from 2 to 5 laps and Ian/Susie
the more important 1 to 6, overtaking at the final windward mark.
Similar close racing in the GP fleet with Keith/ Susan, John/Sue and Sarah with Hannah. As Keith did quote ‘The best lap was the last one’.
Joining the Handicap fleet there was George/Chris and Brian in Comets and David revelling in the stronger winds in his Solo.
A lone Merlin out Hywell with a very titchy, but fearless Bethan.
The usual fare of the Frostbite was prepared and served by Rob and Trevor. The Commodore then made a plea for sign ups for the Dinner and Dance and we sang Happy Birthday to a slightly bashful Hywell – you wear it well Hywell, must be that fine Wife of yours! Ellen and Nigel, of our mountaineering section, were warmly welcomed back!
See you next week for more Hampton fun.
