Sail Chat: 04.04.2021 First Sunday Sail

We had our first sail of the season yesterday and it was a glorious start with sun on the water, a gentle breeze and 11 boats sailing. For those who like statistics, there were four merlins, three GPs, three Ents and 1 laser out with four boats sailed by father and daughter teams, four couples sailing together and no hint of disharmony aboard any boat.  A wonderful beginning to the season. A few sailing pictures are at the end of this Blog for those who weren’t able to make it to the club.

A huge thank you to our first duty team of the season: – Derek & Mary, Trevor & Alison for an enjoyable course and keeping us on the water for just the right amount of time.

Next week, we will only be running the afternoon series racing but from 18 April we will run both the am handicap and the afternoon series. 18 April will also see the HSC outdoor bar re-open.

Next Saturday sees the first HSC paddleboard safari so we look forward to seeing everyone who is coming along. Thank you Ditton Paddleboarding Club for providing some additional boards and coaching support.

On the social scene, our next event is the Cheese and Wine on 22 April 2021. Please see Alison’s e-mails for details of the event and how to pay. As Alison says, Steve is a very entertaining host.

Finally, Happy Birthday to:

Dave Auger, who celebrated his ninetieth this Thursday

Ava Bunner and Jo Hoare, who also celebrated their birthday on Thursday

Sonja Henderson who celebrated her birthday on Saturday and

Aimee Dalby and Graham Penwarden, who celebrate their birthdays tomorrow.

Fair winds and safe passage all

Nigel & Ellen
