The postponed Mid-Thames Trophy will take place on Saturday 13th September at the new venue of Desborough Sailing Club. The HSC Magpie Race will now take place on Saturday 4th October 2014 to accommodate the Mid-Thames Trophy.
First start is at 11:00 hours. DSC will be open to competitors from 09:30 hours. The NoR for the event is at the end of this message.
Can we have as many boats as possible competing in the event to ensure its a success. Even if you can’t compete your physical and vocal support would be great!
Please let Nigel C & I know if you can attend as it would to fantastic to retain the trophy once more.

NOTICE OF RACE
This Notice applies to the following event:Mid-Thames Trophy Inter-Club Regatta on Saturday 13th Sept 2014.
Organising Authority:Desborough Sailing Club, Shepperton, Middx, TW17 9LG, England.
1.1 The events will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2 The Desborough Sailing Club Open Meeting Instructions will apply.
2 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
2.1 The event will be open to all boats from Aquarius SC, Desborough SC, Hampton SC, Laleham SC, Littleton SC and Staines SC.
There will be no entry fee. Refreshments will be available to purchase all day.
3.1 Desborough SC will be open from 9.30 hrs
3.2 Race briefing will be at 10.30 hrs
3.3 The first race will start at approximately 11.00 hrs
3.4 The trophy will be three general handicap races
4 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The Desborough Sailing Club Standard Open Meeting Sailing Instructions are available in the Clubhouse and on the web site www.desboroughsc.org. Amendments to the Standard Sailing Instructions will be available on the Club Notice Board on the day(s) of the event.

6 THE COURSES
Course(s) to be sailed will be displayed on the day
7.1 There is a minimum of three and a maximum of five boats from each club to count
towards the team prize
7.2 In each race, the number of boats from each club counting towards the trophy will be the number of boats sailed by the club with the lowest number of starters, with a maximum of five and a minimum of three
7.3 In the event that any club cannot enter the minimum number of boats (three) to challenge for the Mid-Thames Trophy, they are still invited to race for individual honours
7.4 Standard current RYA Portsmouth numbers will be used.
7.5 In each race, the lowest scoring boats from each club will count towards the trophy
7.6 The club with the lowest total points for all three races will be awarded the trophy
7.7 For individual results, the best two results will count
8 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the event entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to
Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or
personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the
9.1 A boat is entirely responsible for its own safety, whether afloat or ashore, and nothing, whether in the Notice of Race or Sailing Instructions or anywhere else, reduces this responsibility.
9.2 It is for the boat to decide whether it is fit to sail in the conditions in which it will find
itself. By launching, the boat confirms that it is fit for those conditions and that its crew
is competent to sail and compete in them.
9.3 Nothing done by the organisers can reduce the responsibility of the boat nor will it make the organisers responsible for any loss, damage, death or personal injury, however it may have occurred, as a result of the boat taking part in the race. The organisers encompass everyone helping to run the race and the event, and including, inter alia, the Organising Authority, the Race Committee, the Race Officer, patrol boat crews and beachmasters.
9.4 The provision of patrol boats does not relieve the boat of its responsibilities.
10 INSURANCE & LICENCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a
minimum cover of £2,000,000 or the equivalent.
A valid Environment Agency licence must be displayed on all boats entered.
