Lovely sunny day for Sunday 12th July with a very light south westerly with a habit of licking about a bit. Nice short course from Race Officer, John Hollands, up river opposite the barges and down river opposite the Church Land. Time to a fraction by Alison in the Box.

First to go were the Comets, David (in Peter’s) with grand daughter Honey and George (in one of his). Close race with very light airs and some place changing. Honey (she certainly is) showing excellent crewing skills.

Next it was Laser Man Go, Claude and James in Toppers and Keith managing his GP expertly alone.

Finally Sophie and Ian crewing and Me with Jane in Enterprises. We had the best of the wind as at times it was gentle 6 mph but with the occasional flat calm near the windward mark. It was really interesting to see the new wind coming down river in gentle rippling bursts. Very close race with Sophie getting rights at the last downwind mark creating a very tight finish. Also Enterprising was Richard with sons James and Luke also budding sailors.

Holiday atmosphere on Hurst Park with well behaved groups, fishermen, blow-ups of all kinds and even our very own Lucy and Graham still awaiting the moment! Very enjoyable day and gradually getting back to some kind of normality. Everyone is very responsible with the distancing and we are out in the open air.
