Sunday 26th still saw March going out like a lion with 15 knots, with gusts, now from the east. With the sun out though and about 14 c it was a cracking spring day.

Only two takers in the morning Stuart J with Claude and me with Ra, both in Enterprises, the numbers reduced by Mothers’ day and still some early season inertia. Few heart in mouth moments as the gusts came through but no dips.

Amusing visit by a rather chubby emigre from Boston who stayed for everyone else’s lunch.

Numbers swelled in the afternoon as Howard joined us as did Ian with daughter Sophie, welcome return of Larysa with Stuart, Bim Bom Ben and me with Ra, all in Enterprises except Ben of course. The Race Officer started us all together and kept a close watch on us from the safety boat as the wind was still considerably frisky. Howard completed the race single handed which was some feat, Ian and Sophie lasted nearly all the race until Ian missed the toe straps and fell out and in but gallantly finished the race. Ben revelled in the conditions and sailed the longest to finish.
Really a very enjoyable and exciting sail with considerate supervision all day by Simon and Kevin.

Usual high tea from Claude and Jemima who produced some fine Easter themed cakes.

Rather low on numbers again so come on in you sailors. See you next week?

Phill
