Sail Chat: 28.07.2019

Mixed north westerly on Sunday 28th July 2019. Scheduled training day so club buzzing with our delightful new families and their children. Duncan in full ring master control of the children on Toppers and a definite hit with them judging by their responses. Tireless work by the Commodore and members of the Committee in getting so many along and on the water. Only three boats racing one Ent, One Laser, with a welcome return of Tim on his Tri.

The afternoon brought an increase in boats and breeze which, with a predominant course, set by Trevor and Stuart down river, made for excellent and sometimes exciting sailing. Enterprises out were Christopher with Michaela, Jane and Woody (member 20 years ago) and me with Ali. GP’s had Derek and Mary, George and Chris, Keith and Susan, Andrew with Rob, Emily with (not sure) and James with Fiona. The last three still training and doing very well. Emily has definitely qualified for full membership as she capsized morning and afternoon!

Roger and Brian were out in their Lasers and in the Merlins; John and Alexandra, Hywell with Austin, Andrew with Tom and I think I saw Rob and Jo out. As the wind had piped up there were a few moments of closeness! Perhaps these should go in your little book Stu? Or is that just for motor boats?

Fabulous sailing Thursday evening

Tea time was just like HSC of yore, lots of children and a crowded club house. Kevin led an applause for our new members. Cracking job Commodore and Committee – Oh and a some of the Afterguard.

There is a HSC team in the Tour de Londres; Andrew Mills, John Bell, Colin and Amelia (not on a tandem), Nigel and the Commodore has a virtual entry. Who will be our exciting Egan? For sure none are 22! Good place to watch from about 9am outside Tesco in the Walton Road Molesey.
