Dull and grey with a sprightly ENE breeze on Sunday 25th November, just right to blow away the fuzzy and the aching head after a fantastic Dinner and Dance in the Brooklands car and bike museum. I thought the disco was the biz and it reminded me of my second music period of rave not rock and roll.
Long course, with a beat to J and a nice long run to D or B, to suit the conditions set by Hywell and Gareth.
Limited numbers out due to above but the hardy types were sailing. Lone Merlin (they are the youngest and drink the most) with John and Deidre. The GP’s had George with Sue and Derek and Mary in a tight, covering duel. Ben was out in the Comet against Nigel in his Solo and the Comet appeared heavier on return than depart but Ben was cheerful.
The Enterprise Fleet are either light drinkers or of a tougher hue as we had Christopher and Brian, Sophie and Jane, The Aviator with Amelia, Ian with Susan and me with Sarah Jenkins (great to sail with you Sarah). Ian and Susan took an unfortunate early dip whilst gybing and had to retire, although Ian did press on solo for a while until hypo set in. A cracking race in all with lovely sailing conditions. Christopher/Brian had it by a boat’s length.
Usual delicious apre with chums and then the AGM which was lively but democratic.
See you next week don’t forget our Enterprise AGM after sailing, down-stream end of the club.
