The foul dawn heralded a finer day for sailing on Sunday 11th November with a sparkling SSW wind with gusts and sunshine, which caused some doubt about reefing, except for the Aviator who was licking his lips.
Cracking course set by team Andrew, ‘the Doctor’ and Ben Sharp (good to see you Ben). The Merlins did ‘B’ to ‘I’ with a very close contest between Richard and Son-in-Law Philip against John with Deirdre. They were within a boat’s length for the whole race until the finish with Hywell, slightly overpowered, with lightweight Flynn.
John sailed with Sue, and Derek with the irrepressible Mary in the GP fleet, which was close too.
The Enterprises had Christopher and Brian, Aviator and Amelia, Jane with Sophie, with reduced rig, and me with Ra. It was a lovely race with cracking conditions and some challenging gusts but it did drop causing Jane/Sophie to fall back. I really enjoyed it and the crew was ace!
Afterwards we had lunch provided by Jane P and Dorothy with super, oozy, cheese, timing by Peter and Tim and the Commodore reminded us of the Dinner and Dance and The Children’s Christmas Party.
