Sail Chat: 09.09.2018

Warm steady 10 to 15 mph wind from the south west on Sunday, which gave for sparkling sailing morning and afternoon when it increased a tad.

Good show in the morning with Simon/Claude Merlin, David/Solo, Jane/Lucy, very welcome return of Christopher, sailing with Brian and me/Ra. Very close race with some exciting runs and only seconds in the results.

In the afternoon the GP’s had George/Chris, Kevin/Maddie, Trevor/Alison,  Keith/Peter Skingley.  Good race with George leading start to finish.

In the Merlins John/Deidre, only ones on the start line, Philip/Graham and Rob with Jo (and no spiders!), well done Jo!

Handicap with Ben in the Topper and Nigel, fresh from Mt Blanc in his Solo.

In the Enterprises; were Jane/Sophie, Chris/Brian, David/Lucy (briefly), Andy and Elsa (not phased by the strong wind), Ian/Suzie and me/Ra. Exciting racing with changes frequently at the front and the cut, down-wind off Garrick’s proved to be the key to the front. Weed or funny wind I know not!

Excellent race management and cooperation by Derek (again!) and Peter OTI,  super timing, especially am by Sonja and Alison Wood, tea by Ellen and Angela. Amusement provided by the baked bean kid Elvin.
