Sail Chat: 02.09.2019

Sunday 1st September gave us initially that chilly feel but it warmed up to about 20 with some sun. The wind was challenging especially in the afternoon. It was from the west north west in the morning and it gradually veered as the day went on. As is its habit light upriver of the club and quite breezy off Bell Hill. Keith and Graham set a sensible short course for the conditions E to I and in the morning it was quite a good sail. We had Jane C and Jane N, me and Connie out in Enterprises, Peter in his Comet, David Solo, Brian Laser and James, Sam and Phil in a GP14. The Commodore was out with two young visitors in his colourful Merlin giving instruction.

The afternoon brought out six Enterprises Jane with Harry in Dame Blanche, Christopher with Michaela, Sophie and Sawyer, Ian with Susie, me with Sue and Richard Cass with a young visitor. Good show fleet – thank you.

In the GP fleet Derek and Mary, George and Chris and Emily with Rob. The Handicap fleet produced David Solo, Brian Laser, James in or on a Topper and Ben in the Comet with the Cass boys who were motivated by having water poured over them by their helm.

The Merlins had Stuart with Claude and John with Alexandra. Delicious tea from Selina and Marie Trerese. Time by Margaret, Claude and Jane N.
Michaela made a brief announcement and Ali gave details of future events. Apologies to anyone missed out. Philip
