Sail Chat: 02.09.2018

Light warm south easterlies on Sunday 2nd September. Also the sail past of the Dunkirk Little Ships with our very own sailor Ben on board dressed overall in a very smart uniform.
In the morning race were Simon and Claude; Merlin, Maureen with Sue; GP, Peter back in his Comet and thanks to lovely Mary (Timekeeping) Ra (on a fashion shoot?) with me; Enterprise. We had a gentle beat/fetch to I mark and a sort of reach and lull to E mark. The Merlin had it but the Comet was not far off.
In the afternoon it was nearly all change for the Duty Team, Malky replaced Derek and Margaret Mary. The Race Officer, David Gettings stayed the course. They were all up to scratch!
In the afternoon we had a bit more wind and quite a few more boats. In the GP’s were Kevin and Maddie, Maureen and Sue, George and Chris and Keith with Susan.
In the Merlins were Andrew and Ellie, bailing hard, John Bell with Aimee, Rob and Jo and Simon with Claude.
Lone Comet with the Master getting points.
In the Enterprises were Jane and Sophie, Andy and Michelle, Richard with Luke and James, Ian and Suzie and me with Elsa, who, whilst being rather small, was unconcerned at tip, strong on jib sheets and will make a good Botanist.
Excellent time kept by Margaret and Ra, Coursing by David and very nice cake indeed by Lucy P and Deirdre.
Congratulations to Stuart for winning the Magpie Race held on Saturday.
EBFRO 1. Wishes for the safety of our intrepid climbers, Nigel and Aviator, must go out. The Biggles woolley will come in handy on the mountain top!
See you next Week.
