Challenging northerly with us for the morning race. Only three takers Peter in his Comet, Chris and Michaela and me with new member Alison in Enterprises. With fickle, nearly nothing upstream and quite a nice little puff down it was a very close race right to the end with only seconds in it.
Burst of members in the afternoon but no Merlins as all at Salcombe. By now the wind had backed and improved, giving more of a windward leeward race. Good show from the Ents., with Chris and Michaela, Ian with Claude, welcome return of the Aviator and Amelia, Sophie with Jane, Richard and me and Stuart (briefly) with Toby. Very tight race at the front with Chris and Ian and the flyer always threatening. The Graduate (person not a boat) just had it.
GP14’s out were birthday boy George with Ian’s Dad, Derek and Mary, Trevor and Alison and Malkie back with us with Alan crewing. Keith stayed dry by attending the vintage car rally in Hampton.
In the Handicap fleet was Ben in the Oppy, Roger on the Laser.
The race team came all the way from Cambridge with a very small kitten, Maureen and Sue timed us well and tea was by Susie.
Birthdays of Ben, Sophie and George were celebrated and Chris, the Graduate, congratulated. George pushed the boat out.
Our boys and girls are doing well in Salcombe – you can follow the results on SYC website.
See you soon. Phill
