Light north westerlies and sunshine welcomed us on Sunday 2nd April.
Improving show in the morning with a welcome return of the master (Peter) in his Comet, David in his Solo, Brian in the Laser and Jane/Amelia and me with Chris in Enterprises. On a short triangle course, making the most of the fickle breeze, set thoughtfully by race team Colin and Ben we changed places many times as the wind appeared fitfully all over the course. After one hour of intensive sailing Peter had it on handicap by 5 seconds.
Lunch time and later provided us with three separate families all checking out the club, maybe to join?
In the afternoon class racing numbers were further increased. Merlins had Simon and Claude and Andrew with Ben crewing. In the Enterprises Sophie was now with Jane, operating the new dangly pole, Brian, sailing Prime Pitch with plucky young visitor Flossie, Duncan and Annie and Chris helming me. Jane flew away never to be caught.
Healthy show of the GP’s with Derek and ever cheerful Mary, John and Ali, George and Chris in beautifully repainted ‘Upsy Daisy’ and Keith with Stevie G.
A burgeoning handicap fleet came to the party with Peter (Comet), David (Solo), Roger (Laser) and our very own Rear Legal Eagle in his Solo.
Unfortunate coming together as Brian and Peter collided off Bell Hill but no injuries and hopefully Flossie not put off.
Usual punctilious time keeping from the Marilyn and Karen and a delicious tea from Amelia and Ian.
Nigel made the announcements, we sang happy birthday and David Auger, very generously, bought the drinks for all.
See you next week when I will try and please you all.
