Sunday 1st April and the conditions fooled us all. With a swollen, brown torrent of river and little wind the committed few gathered in the club house to watch, wait and wonder. No joy as Race Officer Trevor had to cancel both races.
The real excitement came with the Easter Egg hunt for the afore mentioned supplied by Vice Bunny Ellen. With two token children, visitors Carlotta and Matteo along with some eager adults. Many were found and many eaten, with Lucy breaking her Lenten fast.
Unlike the river the afternoon meandered on until the next high spot – Tea! Yea! What with Trevor’s frozen sandwiches and Jane’s licky cakes and another trickle of takers all were re-assured. Hampton teas are a great opiate.
Then the bar was unfettered and Ben served us all un-supervised.
At the end of this week two of our favourite young members are getting spliced. Enterchat wishes them every happiness and maybe James you could even get Gina back in a boat.
See you next week for hopefully sailing.
