Ladies Supper Saturday 17th October 2009

This social event, which is held every alternate year, is primarily to thank the outgoing Commodore’s Lady for all her hard work behind the scenes. The men of the club are expected to feed, water and generally wait on the ladies throughout the evening and in true Hampton traditions they did this admirably.

A varied menu was provided with dishes from
George -    Kidney Turbigo.
Alan -         Chilli Con Carne
Kevin -       Barbecue Chicken
Trevor -      Honey Mustard Chicken
John -        Lamb Rogan Josh
Derek -       Boeuf Bourguignon

All served up with jacket potatoes cooked by Keith, Phillip and Steve. The food being expertly plated and served by various male members of the club.

A very good turn out of 30 ladies had a most enjoyable evening and they even allowed the men to partake in the food and drink, once they had finished serving the ladies.

Rubber gloves, washing up liquid and tea towels were soon in operation as the plates and glasses were washed, dried and put away, much to the amazement of some of the ladies who did not think that their man knew what a dishcloth was.

A big thanks to all the men and an even bigger thank you to Jane for all of her efforts over the past few years.

Junior Regatta & Fun Day

The Junior Regatta at Hampton Sailing club this year was held in Picos. Although due to impending exams the following Monday a lot of the older juniors could not sail or were unable to give of their best, the younger junior members were there in force.

Very close racing was held with series leader Suzi Bell disqualified for not starting correctly. This left four boats on equal points, the tie being broken in favour of Oliver Jenkins and Harry Jayasuriya who clinched the meeting by comfortably winning the last race.

After the racing some fun events and races were held with a BBQ by the river to finish an eventful day.

rescue

Many thanks to Rob, Ben and Stuart for their help in recovering this Merlin. They turned out in fairly atrocious conditions, very wet and windy and recovered the boat without serious damage either to them, the rescue boats or indeed the rescued boat.
This should remind us all of how important it is to ensure that our boats are properly secured when we leave the club, especially at this time of the year.
